Apr 19, 2018Ladd died peacefully at home on Friday, April 13, 2018.John was born in Spring Valley on May 30, 1947, to John W. and Gladys (Brown) Maggi Sr. He married Nancy Phillips on Aug. 17, 1968.John retired from Teamster Local 722, working for Advanced Asphalt in Princeton for 47 years. He was a Ladd fireman for 20 years.John was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in LaSalle. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and camping, where he was a member of La Chateau 40 and 8 in Annawan for many years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Ladd; one daughter, Mary (Mike) Chrisman of Athens; two sons, Chris (Deanna) Maggi of Granville and Troy (Diana) Maggi of Oglesby; four grandchildren, Brennen, Hannah, Emily and Paige; one great-grandson, Maverick; and one sister, Roxanne Kerr of Ladd.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Phillip Englehaupt; and one sister, Bonnie Wenzel.Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd with the Rev. Betty Delgado officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Cremation will follow the services and burial will take place at a later date in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley.Pallbearers will be Brennen Maggi, Doug, Dave and Dan Englehaupt, John Kerr and B.J.
